How to Connect Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™

One of the first things many of our Santa Rosa customers want to know is how to connect Apple CarPlay® to their new Chevy vehicle, or how to use the Android Auto™ wireless capabilities. So, we’ve put together the guide below on setting up Apple CarPlay® and how to use Android Auto™ without USB.

How to Use Android Auto™ with a USB Cord

  • Plug the phone into the car’s USB port
  • Install Android Auto™ on your device if it is not already installed
  • Follow the onscreen instructions to complete setup
  • Select Android Auto™ from the car’s display. Follow the onscreen instructions

How to Use Android Auto™ Wireless (Requires USB connection to set up)

You’ll need to use a USB cord for the initial setup using this method. Skip to the next section for instructions on how to set up and use Android Auto without USB.

  • Turn on Bluetooth®, Wi-Fi, and Location Services on your phone
  • Make sure Android Auto™ is installed on your phone (this built into Android 10.0 and later)
  • Shift the car into Park
  • Plug the phone into your car’s USB port
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup
  • Tap Android Auto™ on your car display to start wireless connection

How to Use Android Auto™ Wireless Without a USB Cable

A lot of our Larkfield-Wikiup customers prefer to operate without a bunch of cables. Follow these instructions on how to set up and use Android Auto™ without a USB cord:

  • Make sure your phone is running on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) or later
  • Make sure Android Auto™ is installed on your phone (this built into Android 10.0 and later)
  • Open Android Auto™ on your device
  • Pair the phone with the car via Bluetooth®
  • On the car’s display, select the Android device to auto launch Android Auto™

How to Set Up Apple CarPlay® on a Chevrolet via USB

  • Turn on the ignition
  • Turn on Siri on your Apple device
  • Plug your device into the car using an Apple USB cord.
  • To use Siri, hold down the voice command button on your steering wheel and say your voice command.

How to Set Up Apple CarPlay® on a Chevrolet Wirelessly

  • On your Apple device, go to “Settings”
  • Select “General”
  • Select “CarPlay”
  • Turn on Bluetooth®
  • Tap “Enable Wireless CarPlay”
  • Select the CarPlay option from the stereo system’s menu
